GOSPEL READING : MATTHEW 25:31-46

PAGBASA SA EBANGHELYO NI SAN MATEO KABANATA DALAWAMPU'T LIMA TALATA TATLUMPU'T ISA HANGGANG APATNAPU'T ANIM

31 "When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne, 32 and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him. Then he will divide them into two groups, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the righteous people at his right and the others at his left. 34 Then the King will say to the people on his right, 'Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Come and possess the kingdom which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world. 35 I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, 36 naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.' 37 The righteous will then answer him, 'When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? 38 When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?' 40 The King will reply, 'I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of mine, you did it for me!'41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Away from me, you that are under God's curse! Away to the eternal fire which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels! 42 I was hungry but you would not feed me, thirsty but you would not give me a drink; 43 I was a stranger but you would not welcome me in your homes, naked but you would not clothe me; I was sick and in prison but you would not take care of me.' 44 Then they will answer him, 'When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and we would not help you?' 45 The King will reply, 'I tell you, whenever you refused to help one of these least important ones, you refused to help me.' 46 These, then, will be sent off to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go to eternal life."

Intro : HUMILITY MEANS LOWLINESS OF MIND

John 6:38

38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

Story:

If two goats meet each other in a narrow path above a stream of water what do they do?

They cannot turn back, and they cannot pass each other, for there is not an inch of spare room. Instinctively, they know if they butt each other, both will fall into the water below and be drowned.

What would they do? Nature has taught one goat to lie down so the other can pass over its body; As a result, each goat arrives at its destination safe and sound.

5 REASONS WHY HUMILITY IS IMPORTANT TO US, AS FOLLOWER & BELIEVER

OF CHRIST

1. God commands us to be Humble = James 4:10, 5-6

2. God Humbles the proud but exalts the humble = Luke 1:52

3. God humbles the proud to renew & teach them that the man does not live on bread alone = Deuteronomy 8:2-5

4. A Humble person is obedient = Philippians 2:5-8

5. A Humble person found favor with God = Luke 18:13-14

1. GOD COMMAND US TO BE HUMBLE = James 4:10

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

2. GOD HUMBLES THE PROUD BUT EXALTS THE HUMBLE = Luke 1:52

52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

3. GOD HUMBLES THE PROUD TO RENEW & TEACH THEM THAT THE MAN DOES NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE = Deuteronomy 8:2-5

2 Remember how the L

ORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 4 Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.

4. A HUMBLE PERSON IS OBEDIENT = Philippians 2:5-8

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross!

5. A HUMBLE PERSON FOUND FAVOR WITH GOD = Luke 18:13-14

13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."

Conclusion : Philippians 2:3-4

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

We live by faith and by faith produce the good works of love and obedience by which we will be judged.
